LogPad guide
How to organize LogPad notes with tags and mentions
Tags and mentions give quick notes useful structure without forcing every note into one folder. Use them when a note belongs to a project, topic, person, or context.
Use tags for topics and projects
Tags work well for broad groups such as #work, #ideas,#research, or a project name. A note can have more than one tag, so it can belong to multiple contexts without being duplicated.
Use mentions for people
Mentions are useful when a note relates to a person, meeting, client, teammate, or contact. They make it easier to find notes connected to that person later.
Keep the system lightweight
- Use a few consistent tags instead of inventing a new one for every note.
- Add tags after capture when stopping would slow you down.
- Prefer readable tag names that you would naturally search for.
- Use Smart Folders for saved views after patterns become clear.
Example
A meeting note might include #project-alpha, #followup, and a person mention. Later, search or Smart Folders can collect the project notes, follow-up notes, or notes related to that person.
