PencilTime guide

How to use PencilTime as a student planner

PencilTime can work as a handwritten student planner for classes, assignments, exams, study sessions, lecture notes, and semester planning.

Set up the semester

  • Use the Year page for semester start dates, breaks, and exam periods.
  • Use Month pages for assignment deadlines, test dates, and project milestones.
  • Use Week pages to choose priorities before each school week starts.
  • Use Day pages for class blocks, homework, study sessions, and reminders.

Use Note Pages for classes

Create a Note Page for each course, project, or recurring study area. Use tags in titles when helpful, such as #biology, #history, or #exam. Link course notes back to important planner dates with Link Stickers.

Track assignments

  1. Add the deadline to the Month page so it stays visible.
  2. Break the work into weekly planning steps.
  3. Use a Day page for the next concrete action.
  4. Add a Reminder Sticker when you need a notification.

Keep the planner simple

A student planner works best when it is easy to maintain. Start with deadlines, class notes, and weekly priorities before adding dashboards, stickers, or more detailed tracking.
